Central Processing Unit
Central Processing Unit
Processing device means calculation comparison and decision The processing devices are central processing unit CPU also called Microprocessor is a small chip in computer which receive input from the input unit and process input then provide output to the output device
It is composed of silicon and contains millions of transistors for eg Pentium , dual, core 2 duo , core i 3 , i5 , i7 etc are the microprocessor. it consist ALU ( Arithmetic Logic Unit) , CU (Control unit) and MU ( Memory Unit).
1- ALU ( Arithmetic Logic Unit )
It is the part of computer processor CPU can be perform Arithmetic and logical operations. An arithmetic - logic -unit (ALU) is further divided into two parts AU Arithmetic unit and LU logic unit.
For example it performs simple arithmetic operation such as +,-,*,/ and logical operation such as >,<,=< , <= etc.
2 - CU ( Control Unit )
The Control unit works like the boss and coordinates all of the processor's activities. processor used in a computer is partially made out of silica. On other words silicon chip used for data processing are called Micro Processor.
3 - MU ( Memory Unit )
Memory is used to store data and instructions before and after processing. there are 2 types of memory unit called primary memory and secondary memory.
